Cedar Slat Fence KIT™

This fence kit comes with everything you need to construct your Cedar Slat Fence, except the 1” x 6″ x 6′ cedar boards. You’ll need 12 cedar boards, per 6’ fence section. BOARDS SOLD SEPARATELY. Fits boards 0.75″ thick or less. (1″x6″ boards are actually 0.75″ thick). The fit is tight, but it’s easy to tap in for soft woods like Cedar, Pine or Redwood.

NOTE: You’re not restricted to 6 ft wide fence sections, you can go up to 8 ft wide, but recommend 6ft for added strength.

Recommended Boards

Cedar boards are the most common, and cost roughly $25 per 1″x6″x6′ board. If you’re on a budget you can go with a premium pine board for around $12 per board.

We don’t recommend hardwood boards unless you’re willing router off 1/16″ of the board where it goes inside the post channel grooves. Soft wood boards such as 1″x6″ will fit inside with a tap of the board.

NOTE: You might find that 6ft lengths aren’t available and will have to purchase 8ft long boards and cut to size which will increase the price a bit.

How Many Boards Do I Need?

You need 11, 6″ wide boards. This leaves extra room on the bottom so the bottom board doesn’t touch the ground. This leaves a few inches of post above the boards on the top.

You want to stay with 6″ wide boards (actual size is 5.5″) because the number of spacers we provide are designed for 6″ boards. If you want to go with 4″ wide boards, let us know so we can add more spacers to your order (fees apply).

Line Post Description

The post and cap are made from high durable aluminum, powder coated black, unaffected by UV rays, high humidity, as well as temperature fluctuations. This line post is compatible with soft wood fence boards of up to 0.75″ thickness. Features 3 channel grooves so the fence can be made into a straight line or in a 90 degree corner.

Includes channel covers to hide the post channel grooves that aren’t being used.

BOARDS NOT INCLUDED.

Cedar boards are available at Home Depot, Lowes, and most building supply stores. We recommend pre-cut cedar boards, 1” x 6” x 6’). Cost varies depending on where you purchase, but these boards are relatively inexpensive, cost between $14 – $22 per board.
